What to Expect After a Mommy Makeover

What to Expect After a Mommy Makeover

May 23, 2013

New moms receive a lot of advice about what to expect when baby arrives. Tips on helping baby sleep and eat abound, and as the old saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. But dealing with a post-baby body? That’s personal.

Carrying a baby is an impressive physical feat that can be hard on a woman’s body. And how a woman looks can impact how she feels. Good nutrition and exercise are essential for both mother and baby, but sometimes hormone and weight fluctuations associated with pregnancy result in stubborn fat deposits in the thighs and stomach. Many women experience a loss of breast volume as well, and diet and exercise simply will not restore these areas. Enter the Before Baby Body, a customized mommy makeover by Dr. Buford.

As the developer of the Before Baby Body, Dr. Buford’s goal is that the results of mommy makeover procedures will restore confidence to mothers through restoring the body. The Before Baby Body experience may combine the following procedures:

  • Breast augmentation and/or breast lift surgery— to restore volume, shape, and vitality to the breasts
  • Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)—to restore a sleek abdomen
  • Liposuction via VASER LipoSelection—to remove unwanted fat deposits from problem areas
  • Skin rejuvenation via chemical peels—to reduce or eliminate the appearance of stretch marks

Dr. Buford works with each patient to design a Before Baby Body experience that will meet the mother’s goals for surgery and work with her lifestyle. Busy moms are short on time, and a long recovery period is not always an option. Luckily, recovery from mommy makeover surgery is fairly quick. Most women are able to return to daily activities within 2 weeks of surgery, although exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for approximately 6 weeks. While each woman’s experience is different, many patients say the discomfort following surgery is no worse than recovering from a C-section. Following surgery, we encourage patients to arrange for help around the house so they’re able to get the rest needed for a complete yet speedy recovery.

A woman’s new body after mommy makeover surgery will impact more than her physique. Dr. Buford knows that increased confidence is important as well. With the help of the Before Baby Body, women who are working out and eating well can take the final step to getting their sexy bodies back, with results in 6 weeks or so. Today’s moms do it all, so why not have it all, too? Look your best and feel great about yourself after your mommy makeover with Dr. Buford.

Natrelle® Breast Implants
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Breast implants are not lifetime devices. The longer patients have them, the greater the chance they will develop complications, which may require more surgery. Breast implants have been associated with a cancer of the immune system called breast implant–associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). Some patients have died from BIA-ALCL. Patients have also reported a variety of systemic symptoms such as joint pain, muscle aches, confusion, chronic fatigue, autoimmune diseases, and others.

Natrelle® Breast Implants are for breast augmentation and revision surgery in women at least 22 years old for silicone-filled implants and women at least 18 years old for saline-filled implants.

You should not get breast implants if you currently have an active infection, untreated breast cancer or precancer, or are pregnant or nursing. Tell your doctor about any conditions you have, any medications you are taking, and any planned cancer treatments. Breast implantation is likely not a one-time surgery.

Having implants removed and not replaced may lead to permanent cosmetic changes of the breasts. Breast implants may affect breastfeeding. Gel implants may rupture without symptoms, so periodic imaging after surgery is recommended.

Key complications are reoperation, implant removal, implant rupture, implant deflation with saline-filled implants, and severe capsular contracture.

Talk to your doctor for more information.

The use of Natrelle® Breast Implants is restricted to licensed physicians who provide information to patients about the risks and benefits of breast implant surgery.
