Find Relief From Hernia Pain

At BEAUTY By BUFORD, we take your umbilical hernia seriously, and you’ll find top-notch care. If you're dealing with the discomfort and frustration of an umbilical hernia, you're in capable hands with Denver plastic surgeon Gregory A. Buford, MD, FACS, PCEO.

What Is Umbilical Hernia Repair?

Umbilical hernia repair is a surgical procedure designed to treat umbilical hernias. With this condition, there’s a weakness or a gap in the abdominal muscles around the belly button, allowing abdominal contents to protrude through the weakened area. This results in a noticeable bulge near or around the navel, which can be uncomfortable and sometimes painful.

During the repair, Dr. Buford will make a small incision near the umbilicus to access the herniated area. The herniated tissues, such as fat or intestine, will be gently pushed back into the abdominal cavity. The weakened abdominal muscles are then carefully stitched together or reinforced with a synthetic mesh to create a strong barrier and prevent a recurrence of the hernia.

At BEAUTY By Buford, we understand the importance of treating an umbilical hernia promptly. Our skilled team ensures that every step of the repair process is meticulously handled, from pre-operative preparation to post-operative care, to optimize your recovery and overall well-being.

Why Would I Need Umbilical Hernia Repair?

If you've been diagnosed with an umbilical hernia, surgical repair may be necessary, especially if:

Discomfort & Pain

The hernia causes discomfort, pain, or aching sensations, hindering your daily activities and quality of life.

Strangulation

In rare cases, the hernia can become strangulated, cutting off blood supply to the herniated tissues, resulting in a medical emergency requiring immediate surgical intervention.

Size & Enlargement

The hernia has grown in size over time or has become significantly large, affecting your appearance and potentially leading to further complications.

Incarceration

The hernia becomes trapped or incarcerated, causing severe pain, nausea, vomiting, and an inability to push the herniated tissues back in.

Obstruction

The hernia obstructs the normal flow of bowel contents, leading to bowel-related symptoms like bloating, constipation, or difficulty passing gas.

Remember, leaving an umbilical hernia untreated can lead to potential complications. Dr. Buford will thoroughly evaluate your condition, discuss your symptoms, and recommend the most suitable treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Natrelle® Breast Implants
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Breast implants are not lifetime devices. The longer patients have them, the greater the chance they will develop complications, which may require more surgery. Breast implants have been associated with a cancer of the immune system called breast implant–associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). Some patients have died from BIA-ALCL. Patients have also reported a variety of systemic symptoms such as joint pain, muscle aches, confusion, chronic fatigue, autoimmune diseases, and others.

Natrelle® Breast Implants are for breast augmentation and revision surgery in women at least 22 years old for silicone-filled implants and women at least 18 years old for saline-filled implants.

You should not get breast implants if you currently have an active infection, untreated breast cancer or precancer, or are pregnant or nursing. Tell your doctor about any conditions you have, any medications you are taking, and any planned cancer treatments. Breast implantation is likely not a one-time surgery.

Having implants removed and not replaced may lead to permanent cosmetic changes of the breasts. Breast implants may affect breastfeeding. Gel implants may rupture without symptoms, so periodic imaging after surgery is recommended.

Key complications are reoperation, implant removal, implant rupture, implant deflation with saline-filled implants, and severe capsular contracture.

Talk to your doctor for more information.

The use of Natrelle® Breast Implants is restricted to licensed physicians who provide information to patients about the risks and benefits of breast implant surgery.
